Introduction

Purpose: The Department of Computer Engineering aims to train engineers with skills that provide a unique opportunity for individuals to develop themselves in computer science, computer software and computer hardware departments, and who can make fundamental and permanent contributions to the profession of Computer Engineering in today`s world where human and social life is dependent on computers, information and the Internet.

Admission Requirements: Candidates who will be accepted to Çankırı Karatekin University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering must graduate from high school or its equivalent. If the candidate has a foreign high school diploma, the equivalence of this diploma must be approved by the Ministry of National Education. As a result of the Student Selection Exam, candidates who meet the points and conditions valid for Çankırı Karatekin University Engineering Faculty Computer Engineering in that academic year and students who have the right to enroll in the department according to the provisions of Çankırı Karatekin University Foreign Student Registration and Admission Directive can register by bringing the documents specified in ÖSYM for registration. Those who will enroll in the computer engineering undergraduate department must apply the registration conditions and procedures specified in the Çankırı Karatekin University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulations.

Program Description: Our department started its undergraduate education in the 2019-2020 academic year. The department aims to provide the necessary technical competencies, tools and personal opportunities that will enable its students to continuously improve their understanding, expertise and professionalism. Our program language is Turkish. Our department provides formal education-primary education and there is no tuition fee. The education model is face-to-face and distance education model. Face-to-face and applied courses are held in the Computer Engineering classrooms and laboratories of the Faculty of Engineering. While preparing the courses in the department, the elective courses as well as the basic courses in the relevant departments of the universities that have been providing education for many years both in Turkey and abroad have been carefully examined and the courses are selected as students who will graduate from the department can study further in their future career.

Students start their 4-year Computer Engineering education with introductory courses such as object-oriented programming and algorithm design, which form the basis of important subjects such as data structures and algorithm analysis, operating systems, programming languages, databases, computer networks. In addition to departmental courses, courses in mathematics, science and other engineering disciplines are also offered to assist in their further studies. In addition, in their final year, our students receive a graduation project that can solve a comprehensive problem which they will encounter in real life. The courses are given in classrooms, workshops and laboratories within the Faculty of Engineering. Our department gives special importance to applied education with its modern laboratories including the Basic Computer Laboratory, the Basic Electrical-Electronics Laboratory and the Numerical Design and Microprocessor Laboratory, which include state-of-the-art equipment and computers with high-speed internet and powerful equipment. In addition, our students can use these laboratories in extracurricular activities for their homework, projects and research throughout their education life. In addition, our department supports students` participation in international education projects such as ERASMUS, provides internship opportunities to students, and offers opportunities focused on student benefit in every sense with student community activities.

Assessment and Evaluation Principles and Graduation Requirements: 191 ECTS from compulsory computer engineering courses and 49 ECTS from technical and non-technical elective courses must be fulfilled in order to obtain a Computer Engineering Bachelor degree in accordance with Bologna criteria. The total number of ECTS required to graduate is 240. In addition, students must complete two industrial internships, consisting of a total of 40 (20x2) working days, in a company that provides services related to computer departments. In order for a student to graduate from the Computer Engineering Program, he/she must have taken and succeeded the required courses in the program, successfully completed the applications, internships and similar studies, and must have a graduation weighted average of at least 2.00. The measurement and evaluation principles of the Computer Engineering Program are determined according to the Çankırı Karatekin University Associate and Undergraduate Education Regulations.

Employment opportunities: Students who graduate from the department can be employed in different positions (software developer, software engineer, quality/test engineer, system analyst, system specialist, interface developer, database manager, data communication specialist).
